Sorry for the delay

O. M. G. !
It's been over 6 months? Already?
I kinda knew I was postponing for a long time but I cannot believe it took me so long to come back here.

BUT! I had some very good reasons to be too busy to write.

Doubled the size of my house by adding a second floor.

Completely changed my kitchen

Changed my living room into a hall/stairway (and my bedroom into a living room)

And started a new health and wellness business.

Let's not forget that I still do graphic design, crochet, paint, make jewellry - and take care of three handsome-full-of-life-little-boys...

So... do you forgive me ;) ? I promise I won't leave for that long again, anymore.

What about you? What have you been up to since July?

It's my Birthday!

Well, kinda. I received 2 amazing books (one from my dear friend Marie, one from my dear self). I also bought some new stuff, including sketch books, pens, paint and brush.

Now will you excuse me, I have some reading/painting/drawing to do!

Crime Scene

There are 2 suspects in this case. A little one who love to empty cupboards and drawers and a woman who monopolize the kitchen table with craft material.

We have options!

Did you know that Blogger offers dynamic viewing options? If you want to see an example, try the mosaic view for Zamzam Garden, it's pretty cool! You just have to click on a photo to read the whole post. You can change the view by clicking the drop-down menu in the top right corner.

I love images and being a visual person, I think from now on I will choose the mosaic, snapshop or flipcard viewing options for my favorite blogs!

Life goes on...

Trying to move on. To have a "normal" life again.

Health issues are not the first thing on my mind these days, first because I'm getting a bit better. Also, baby is growing up, passed the 3 months milestone this week, so I can, sometimes, do "something else".

And where am I heading to?

My workshop, naturally.

Busy days

So much going on right now.

Working on a super fun logo project.

Shooting photos for Boutique N-ti.

Packing stuff for my trip to Gaspésie.

Taking care of my garden.

Enjoying silence and an empty house after having guests for almost 2 months.

Summer is good.

Before and After

That was before.

And after. But before.
And after. And that's so much better.

Tealicious

It was time for a treat. All my money is spent on my car and debts lately and I decided to cheat and indulge myself.

A friend who knows how much I love tea told me about this new place called David's Tea. I went crazy this morning when I saw the huge selection of tea they have! I finally picked Toasted Walnut (De-li-cious!), Orange Julep and Roiboos de Provence (with lavender and rosehip!).

If you're a fanatic like me and don't live around, you can even order online.

Now the only thing missing is a good friend to share a cup or two.

A Czech friend would be particularly nice.

Bonne FĂȘte!

Eid Mubarak!

Happy Eid!

To all my sisters out there, especially the ones that I don't see often - France, Australia, Czech Republic, are you there? ;) Taqabbal Allah minna wa minkum...

Aaaaah. You know the feeling. The one you get when you finish cleaning up and everything is in its place. Didn't think I would feel the same by cleaning up my email inbox!

And I'm not talking about just deleting messages and emptying the trash. I'm talking about serious unsubscription campaign! I think I put up to 30 names on my blocked ID list (you know those people/institutions that send mass emails and don't give any unsubscription options? Even if you write personnnally to them?). I also unsubscibe myself from, I would say about 20 newsletters and other mailing list. I never realized I was getting so much stuff, because on a daily basis I get like 1 or 2 junk mails. But when I went through my trash bin (with Mac Mail I was able to see all the trash of the last month), I was chocked! And for most of them, I never asked to get the newsletter and the like.

So now... feels fresh and clean and light and I expect incoming messages will be wanted. Until more institutions track me down!

What else?

Al-hamdolillah, I'm mentally feeling good.

Physically, I'm completely dead. After 7 pm it is even worse : my body is like, not responding at all. I'm taking pollen, royal jelly, propolis, vitamin, D, vitamin, C, probiotics, but it's not enough. I'm eating lots of fruits and veggies, making yoga, walking...

What else should I take/do/eat?? For now, I'm going to sleep!

Dreaming

Today is a beautiful day to dream.

Wind is blowing, sky is veiled, the sun is struggling to shine through the greyness of the heavens. We went back to Standard Time, sun will set at 4:41 pm today. Trees are almost all bare. Thermometer displays a timid 5 degrees Celcius. Windows are closed, doors are shut, people are inside. Hibernation has begun.

Today is a perfect day to dream.

Calamity

Three fire tucks. Twelve firemen. Me, with burning cheeks and rubber boots, holding a canister under the hole in the oil tank, my two feet in a pond of fuel. Windows open, heating and electricity off, suffocating smell of gas... That wasn't a nightmare. That was my house, last Thursday.

The insurance guy, the after-disaster expert, the oil company, the cleaning company, the new tank team, the minister of environment, the curious neighbours, all around, while experts were tearing walls apart and breaking ceramic tiles... That wasn't a bad dream. That was my house, last Friday.

Me, with respiratory problems and a headache, and the kids, away from home since then... That is not a holiday. That is our actual situation.

Calamity. Upon us.

Clean and minimal

How do you like it? I think that new look really suits this blog.

I'm in a minimalist mood since a couple of weeks and decluttering is my watchword. Everything of no particular and unnecessary use is being donate/discarded/thrown away. Objects, files and all kind of tangible and virtual clutter is either gone or about to. Bare computer desktop. Unsubscription to many emails and newsletter that I never read anyway. Giving away baby stuff, furniture (don't worry I kept the refrigerator and a table!), useless (to me) items.

Have more decluttering work to do but I'm happy now my blog is also done. Fresh and clean. Ah, now you (and I) can breathe!

Blog Lifting

As you may know, Zamzam is going through major changes. My Etsy shop is about to be empty. My focus will be on my graphic design work. And my own self is experiencing many transformations.... so I thought my blog needed some changes.

First a facelift. I'm working on a new name and a new banner for the blog (as the word design is not really representative of what I'm talking about most of the time).

I'm also going to have some kind of weekly program. Monday will be some kind or 'word of the week', where I'm going to talk about one concept, anything that I will have in mind at that time. I'll probably have other weekly ideas but for now that is what I thought about.

I ask you to please, please leave a comment if you have any idea... I'd love to hear you about your favorite topics, your expectations when you read this blog, etc.

Make sure to come back often to see what this lifting is all about!

I used to like to be the mother of all, to take pride of being 'the one you call when you need advices/want to know something'. Being the oldest and only girl of my family, I guess the habit of taking care of others and answering people needs comes from 'back then'.

Now, for some reason, I'm getting a bit annoyed, sometimes. For many of my friends, I became the 'whatever you need to know' hotline. Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of reasons why friends and not-so-friends called/emailed me recently:

- the traditional "what should I tell him?"
- phone number of someone else (many times)
- address of a shop
- directions to a specific address (either 'live' - person is driving - or not)
- soup recipe
- dessert recipe
- pancake recipe
- chicken recipe
- "do you think I can eat pesto after its best before date?"
- "do you think I can eat eggs after their best before date?" (not in the same phone call as previous point)
- traffic report ("I'm on highway 13, can you tell me what is going on ahead, we're not moving?")
- link to a website (that I obviously don't know)
- phone number, courses prices and schedule of the karate school that my kids are not attending (I guess because I talked about it once)
- phone number of the hairdresser
- airport departures schedule
- address of Eid prayer
- schedule of Eid prayer
- if I could make a wake-up call at 5 am every day
- informations regarding child health
- advices regarding child education
- informations regading islam
- volunteering request
- advices on friendship problems
- advices on marital problems
- phone number of a daycare center
- phone number of a psychologist
- recipe to make soap
- reference of someone who could help someone else
- daycare references

And on. And on.

Don't get me wrong. Sometimes I find it funny. Sometimes I take it as an honor. Sometimes I wonder why people think I know answers to almost everything. But yes, sometimes, I find it annoying to be the mother of all.

And sometimes, I would like to be mothered, too.

Eastern Boho

I took a test to find out what was my interior style and I am "Eastern (why not western?) boho". Eclectic and authentic. "Your home is a gallery - every wall tells a story." Well maybe not every wall, but it's true, I like to collect and display objects. I have many pieces from Morocco that I cherish, lots of images, photos, paintings...

Wanna know what's your style? http://iscd.edu.au/personal-style-quiz/

I always knew I was a bohemian - a gypsy, like Maude would say. :)

I know, I know...

...I forgot to say goodbye before I left for Morocco. I guess I was just too busy being depressed, compting days and packing.

But the good news are: I'm back, I'm doing very good and I have plenty of things to talk about. New stuff I made, nice photos to share, great purchases on Etsy, and so on. Be prepared for a bright and colorful Zamzam summer! Incha'Allah wa taala :).

Meanwhile, if you want to see some of my too many photos of Morocco, you can have a look at my Flickr page.
