Necklace Display

I've been looking for a way to display my necklaces for a while now. Taking photos of stuff you want to sell is not always easy as you have to give the best idea possible of the item for sale to potential customers... Jewelry displays are quite expensive and I wanted to find a low cost option.

Then I found this blog post showing how to make a dispaly with basically nothing else than cardboard and an elastic band. I made my own template using a cookie box, some material and hard cover Mod Podge.

I took a few shots of it, but I still have to find the best angle and a light to get great photos.

Enchanted Land of Pink Urchins and Orange Mushys

First I found this photo. Love.

But then I found another one. Love. Love.

So I decided to have a look at the complete photo collection of Machel Spence. Oh. My. Goodness. All those mushrooms, and insects and birds and flowers photos... I felt like a tiny creature travelling in a magical forest full of fungi smells and sparkling lights. Machel's photos are like images of an enchanted land, where you can rest under an umbrella-mushroom or ride on the back of a woolly moth.

A great thing about Machel's amazing photos is they are affordable.
I need to get at least some of them to put next to the beachcombing photos !

Meanwhile, you can come with me for a walk, we could jump on top of an orange mushroom with a baby mantis...

Color Hunt

Fun and easy task today: grab a camera and take a picture of something that is one of the eight colors in the standard box of crayons - blue, red, yellow, orange, green, purple, brown an black. There should be no question what color the picture is for. Thank you, Crayola!

Beachcombing Wall Art

I fell in love with these simple yet beautiful photos of seaglass and other treasures left behind by the ocean, taken by Jennifer from Quercus Design. Her beachcombing serie is just so amazing I cannot decide which one I would like to get. In fact I could get all of them. They represent what I love: the ocean, my long walks on the beach to find my own treasures, my work with seaglass, the odd things I found and secretly keep even if they don't serve any purpose, my passion for colorful things and nature...

Definitely a favorite - next time I change my living room (or bedroom or bathroom or workshop...) decor, I'll keep a wall for these pretty pictures.

Walima

I went to a Walima (wedding party) last week. We were about 80 women to celebrate. The (moroccan) food was absolutely delicious, the munchidat (group of singing women) were excellent, everything was great!

I was the official photographer, a great honor I was given! The bride was beautiful, and unfortunately I cannot show picture of her because she is muslim and wears hijab... So here's a couple of photos that can be shown :).

Busy days

So much going on right now.

Working on a super fun logo project.

Shooting photos for Boutique N-ti.

Packing stuff for my trip to Gaspésie.

Taking care of my garden.

Enjoying silence and an empty house after having guests for almost 2 months.

Summer is good.

Me + Dear Friend + Kids + Camera

= a perfect day, especially when it is spent outside, near a river (or lake, pond, brooke, ocean...).

Moroccan Treasury

My painting is featured in an amazing treasury! You still have 2 days to view it and click on each item! Imight buy the Moroccan Lamp + Mosaic prints... They would go well with my Moroccan style kitchen...

Don't try this at home!

I created a brand new collection of pendants and earrings for winter and wanted to give my photos a wintery look. Nothing better than snow for that!

Well, maybe not the best idea, finally. I froze my fingers, lost one earring in 3 feet of snow and had to put my hand inside to find it back... My camera was foggy, the wind was covering my stuff with snow... Very wintery!

For now, I didn't touch up the photos (they are a bit dark) and I feel like taking more (still!) but I was wondering if it is worth it. Should I use them for the shop? What do you think of the whole concept of jewelry in the snow?

I tried... making my own lightbox

This week, I tried to make something veeeeery useful and veeeery easy: a photo lightbox. I used a tutorial found on a blog called Strobist. The author says it costs $10 but I had almost all the materials already, just had to buy some satin-like fabric to cover three sides of the box - found one perfect piece in a thrift shop for $1.99. The result is really satisfying. I think I'm going to give a cleaner look to my shop and change my photos. I'm a bit fed up with the treasure map paper I use as background!

I had fun this morning trying to take photos of random things. That lightbox is definitely going to make things easier. I will just need to adjust them a bit but photos look so much better! Don't you think?

Beauty

Sakura is an amazing photographer found on Flickr. She has the most gorgeous flower, frog and ladybug photos. So colorful and vivid, I can sit in front of the computer for ages just looking at her work. It kinda relieves me to see all that beauty! Subhanallah.
